Assess the validity of the following statement: "The relationship between Native American groups and Americans (1620-present) has always been negative."
Breakdown: Describe the interactions between Native Americans and Americans and argue whether they were positive or negative. Look at how the relationships between the different Native groups and the American population have evolved over time and decide whether they have progressed or not.
The Native Americans were the first known people to live on the land we call the United States of America. They grew up on this land, making it blossom with their culture and ways. It was a very peaceful environment for them with the animals roaming free and the people working together as a collaborative community. Once the Americans stepped foot onto this land, the Natives' lives changed. Their peace was disrupted, they were in danger, and their culture began to fall apart. They were being pushed out of their own land and treated as animals instead of people. Throughout history, it has been notable that the Americans and the Native Americans did not see eye to eye and they many difficulties getting a long.
Although it’s arguable that there were positive relationships between the Americans and the Native Americans, throughout time, history proves that the relationships have been prominently negative, because of the Americans` drive for land and power.
